The Orleans Public Defenders represents nearly 90% of all individuals who have a legal case in the city. Our clients are citizens of New Orleans who come from rich and diverse communities that deserve an advocate during the difficult and confusing court process that takes place.
We believe in the strengths of our community – its creativity, its resolve, and its collaborative efforts. We strive to integrate those strengths into a legal practice that does more than stand beside a person on the day of trial. Our practice works with community partners and advisors to bring all of those strengths to bear on each individual case, whether through proposing community-based alternatives to prison or referring families to services to help them support their loved ones.
“The best part of our work is what we do for the community; providing services that protect the rights of citizens, helping New Orleans be the best it can be. Our communities are so rich and vibrant; I know our office will continue to maintain its connection to that.”
- Michael Bradley, Assistant Chief Defender
